Media ethics like any other ethical philosphies is really questionable. Why oh why are all our major news from western media.
Why is America, France and so on blasting china for tibet! How dare they.. what fucking odesity. Did china lambast the americans for iraq ? I really hope to read more issues facing china in the press. but unfortunately I cant seem to find any. All this rhetoric about boycotting the olympics is in itself a shame to the west. It was written in the spirit of the games that it shall not be another soviet games ruined by political influences. Sport is sport and athletes are athletes, Nicolas Sarkozy just mentioned that a complete boycott is possible?? WHAT!!!!!! how many tibetans died??? how many iraqis died???
It seems to the west that muslim blood doesn't fall under the jurisdiction of the geneva convention (and worth a lot less). This is a political games... not from CHina, who has vehemently been trying to improve conditions in china to allow athletes to compete at top levels.while the americans rather adroitly use the tibet issue as a diversion, it aims to imbib into the world that china is "bad" and that a vicious emperor rules from the throne of a dynasty called the china communist party(CPC). Oh please...
I really do hope journalists report wisely and discerningly about articles. These tacit snippets of China being Evil, only aims to retard the growth of Asia. I really dont get this trite rhetoric, this world is 6.5 billion strong, china has 1 billion odd, that is 1/6. however, America with only 300 mil, control our media, our opinions and so on. I really hope for a better world, one of which africans will no longer be the receipents of goodwill, where the muslim world can take onus and show great solidarity against terror, where the rest of the 5 million living outside of the EU and America have a bigger Say...
If I said, the poverty in latin america, africa and pakistan were due to the west would you believe me?? Does hugo chavez or musharaff want to invade or place sanctions on America? Does Ahmadinenajad place sanctions on americans thus driving down exports and causing the low GNP of IRAN?
I really wonder who the axis of evil is? Xenophobic?? Im definately not, but, if you look deeper into the troubles of the world and macro issues... there is no such thing as a benevolent America. Read deeper into the details.. you'll see "malevolence"
In Easter I pray for peace...

| of an interview |
[20 Feb 2008|02:29am] |
so another interview, one of which I really enjoyed. an economic board's interview.
Prior to the interview, I was told that an essay would augment the interview process, however, this mis informed source highlighted the essay was very rudimentary and that no preparation was needed, so.... being an avid listerner, I followed 'good' advice and reduced my preparation to a minimal. As I strolled blithely through the doors, I was greeted with a laptop with the following question, " with manufacturing accounting for a quater of Singapore GDP, should singapore continue its vested interest in manufacturing or ditch this effort and strive for higher end infrastructure." ( by the way, i armed myself with a pen all ready to take on the foolscape paper, only to find a laptop sitting; pinning for a new entry. ahhh... I live in primordial times)
Well at this point, I have only my baby to thank for sculpting and making me an avid reader now, I realised that I had placed a veil of ignorance over books and proclamied that a 2hr show saves a greater deal of time that a 5 hr read. As I rumaged through the econs section in our book stores, little did i realise. I couldn be more wrong. Whilst tales of whimsical characters and potter boys elude me, great writings of geo-political issue aluure me towards the minds of intellectuals. Thus case in point, reading current affairs and keeping abreast of international news allowed me to breeze through the writings of the above mentioned. and I cant thank you enough dear.
This interview was a truly enjoyable one, with back and forth discussion of China's role against Singapore trade in the 21st century, I was haveing a great discussion with one interviewer only to be disrupted by a HR girl who was more interested in " what are your weaknesses and blah..." HR personal, a truly intellectual bunch huh ( can they be lynched?). however this HR girl does remind me of my interviews with Banks, there are more interested in stuff you wrote in your resume, as opposed to your knowledge in your data bank. Sad.
I hope I get a call up for the next round. then again with the luck I have, I think I'll just end it by saying, what a refreshing interview.
this truly has given me an impetus towards choosing an industry of choice than fiscal needs.
and to place the cherry on top of it all, Its our 2nd year anniversary. 2 Years less towards a silver jubilee.

Are the Westerners the greatest race on Earth despite consisting of only 15 % of the world population.
Is Working for an Oil company ethicly wrong? since those companies tear down rainforests and force tribes to move from their habitat?
Does Journalism filter what our eyes see in the world? after all CNN, BBC, CNBC are all western media(how much do we know of the war in Iraq)?
Is there something inherently wrong with the middle east and all its factions? Singaporeans dont like Singapore, why? I'd like to hear some answers...
